Website redesign
Rebuilding an existing website so it is clearer, faster and easier to maintain, without losing the search visibility and links it has already earned.

What IOPIA provides
What the work includes
- 01
Audit of the current site
An inventory of every page, with traffic, search queries, inbound links and conversion data noted against each one.
- 02
Keep, merge or retire decisions
A page-by-page recommendation, agreed with you, so useful content survives and outdated pages stop diluting the site.
- 03
New structure and design
Revised navigation and page templates, designed within your existing brand and tested on phones first.
- 04
Content migration
Approved content moved into the new templates, with headings, images and internal links cleaned up on the way.
- 05
Redirect map
A complete list of old URLs and where each one now points, implemented as permanent redirects at launch.
- 06
Before-and-after measurement
Baseline traffic, search and inquiry figures recorded before launch and compared in the weeks after it.
Problems solved
When this helps
- The site still works, but it looks dated and visitors leave before reaching the contact page.
- A previous redesign elsewhere lost search traffic because old addresses were never redirected.
- Years of added pages have produced duplicate, outdated and contradictory content.
- The site runs on a theme or plugin set that nobody can safely update anymore.
Who it's for
- Businesses with an established website that earns some traffic and inquiries
- Organizations whose site has grown untidy after several rounds of additions
- Teams moving off an aging content management system or page builder
A good fit when the existing site has value worth protecting — pages people find, links from other sites, inquiries it already produces — and the goal is to improve it without starting from zero.
If there is no existing site, or nothing on it is worth carrying forward, Business Website Development is the more direct route. If the site only needs updates and fixes, see Website Management & Maintenance.
How it works
Carrying an existing site forward
Select a part of the diagram to see what it does.
- The current site is inventoried page by page, including the links and rankings it already has.
- A content audit decides which pages to keep, merge or retire, while search and analytics data show which pages earn visits.
- Both feed a redirect map that assigns every old address a new destination.
- The redesigned site launches with those redirects live, so visitors and search engines reach the right new page instead of an error.

Implementation
How implementation works
Benchmark
Record current traffic, rankings, inbound links and inquiries so the redesign can be judged against real numbers.
Audit content
Go through every page with you and mark it keep, merge, rewrite or retire.
Restructure and design
Plan the new navigation from the surviving content, then design and approve the key templates.
Rebuild and map
Build the new site, migrate content and write the redirect map line by line from old URL to new.
Switch over and verify
Launch with redirects live, resubmit sitemaps, and watch for 404 errors and indexing changes afterward.
- Project — a one-time implementation with a defined scope.
- Managed — a recurring service after launch.
Technologies
Platforms that may be involved
Redesigns often move between platforms. The work may involve:
- Existing platforms such as WordPress, Wix or Squarespace as the starting point
- Static-site frameworks such as Astro for the rebuilt site
- Site crawlers to inventory pages, links and redirects
- Google Search Console and analytics data for the baseline
- Server or edge redirect rules, for example on Cloudflare
Platform names are used to describe the work. They do not indicate a partnership or certification.
Questions
- Will we lose our Google rankings after a redesign?
- Some movement after any relaunch is normal, and no one can promise rankings. The risk of a lasting drop comes mostly from missing redirects and removed content, which is why the audit and redirect map are central to this service.
- Do we have to change platforms?
- No. If the current platform is sound, the redesign can stay on it. A move is recommended only when the existing setup is the cause of the problems, such as unmaintainable plugins or poor performance.
- Can the site stay live during the redesign?
- Yes. The new version is built and reviewed separately, and the current site keeps running until the agreed switch-over.
